POSITION SUMMARY

The Landscaper for the Marriottsville Campus is an integral member of the Facilities department completing daily maintenance and projects.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The employee reports to the Facilities Manager.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A representative summary of tasks to be performed by the incumbent is provided below. The incumbent may be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically stated in this description. The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values and mission focus statement of The Sisters of Bon Secours, and in-line with the organization’s Code of Conduct.

• Perform daily rounds inspection of the property;
• Perform seasonal grounds duties including: leaf-raking, mulch replacement, snow and ice removal;
• Install trees/shrubs, assist with planting annual flowers in designated flower beds;
• Maintain highest standards of facility cleanliness and order throughout the facility, including sweeping and maintenance around special features, benches, stairs and entry ways;
• Hand water and monitor irrigation of plantings, especially during time of establishment and drought;
• Clean up litter;
• Regularly monitor and participate in recycling trash removal;
• Maintain cleanliness of swimming pool;
• Immediately report all safety hazards and suspicious activity to the Facilities Manager;
• Respect all facility equipment and property, using care to avoid damage and/or bodily harm;
• Demonstrate (as reflected in actions and attitudes) the guiding principles and core beliefs of The Sisters of Bon Secours;
• All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications

• A High School Degree or GED is required;
• Must be able to work well in a team, as well as independently, in all weather conditions;
• Knowledge of, as well as good understanding of safety procedures with ability to report all safety hazards and suspicious activity to the Facilities Manager, as well as understand their role in an emergency;
• Detail oriented, with considerable attention to order in the public landscape and throughout the facility;
• Able to work overtime, weekends, holidays as needed (every-other Saturday during peak times May-Sept.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Pool operators certification; if not employer will arrange accommodations to have certified;
• Previous work experience in landscape/maintenance field;
• Valid driver’s license;
• Previous experience operating maintenance and power equipment, as well as gas and electric vehicles; examples include: Zero-Turn Mowers, Utility vehicles, push-mowers, trimmers/ chainsaws;

Skills

• Basic computer skills are necessary and must be prepared to train in specified computer system and programs
• Engage with staff and guests in a professional manner
• Able to use and operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
